Cycads

Growing sagos from pups.

A friend gave me 20 or 30 pups(I had to cut them off)  from a sago cycad "palm."  I found the following websites about how to grow sagos from pups: Rapis Gardens  and Cycad Jungle.   I am giving it a try.  After a month or two, look what I found:

Coontie "zamia floridana" with seed pod.

I got this plant from a local wholesale nursery.

Female Sago

Male Coontie

Males have thin cones about 1/2 inch wide.  Females have fatter cones from an inch to 3 inches wide.  A female will rarely have more than 10 but could be up to 15 cone scales. A male will have 20 to 40 cone scales
